The rural areas of eastern Washington state have more in common with rural Idaho than urban Seattle. It’s no surprise that rural sheriffs and county officials dislike the anti-constitutionalists’ attempt to eliminate our self-defense rights.

My understanding of Washington state’s I-1639 ballot measure is that the portions dealing with adults (over 21 years old) relate more to purchasing guns and storage requirements than banning them. In other words it is not as extreme as retroactive New Zealand-style confiscation.

Washington state sheriffs take an oath of office in which they swear to “support the Constitution of the United States.” The oath did not say “to support and enforce evil and unlawful state ballot measures whose backers manage to get 51%+ of voters to approve.” It’s heartening to see that they remember the oath they swore.

The Tri-City Herald is owned and controlled by The McClatchy Corporation - a thoroughly typical Democrat agenda-nudging major media outlet. Y’all think the meeting might be stacked and slanted in any direction ? Naaaaaaaaaaah. It can’t happen here.

Pretty much can guarantee at least one state rep - a thoroughly typical Democrat, of course - will be there and flat-out threaten sheriffs who won’t violate their oaths and The Constitution. You can also be some of the alphabet soup agencies will be there, at least in spirit, some folks in the room sending live video ‘somewhere’ and also recording everything.
