During his hearing, Canterbury was repeatedly asked about his personal views on major gun control issues, but he only responded by saying he couldn’t express views outside the Fraternal Order of Police’s positions.

“I like straight answers, and you are being evasive,” GOP Sen. John Kennedy of Louisiana told Canterbury. “You have been nominated to run ATF. I think every member of this panel, both my Democratic friends and Republican friends who have feelings about the Second Amendment, are entitled to know both morally and legally what you believe.”

About effing time he’s out, but his nomination should have been taken back by POTUS within minutes of his refusal to answer that simple question during his confirmation hearing eleven months ago. Yes, June of 2019. It’s been that long. Almost as if on purpose to have “them” in effect “leaderless”. Nudge.

Agreed. If Chuck Canterbury can’t give honest answers to straightforward questions, he doesn’t deserve to have the job. He has disqualified himself based on dishonesty.

Even if you could overlook that glaring problem, the Fraternal Order of Police is no friend of the Second Amendment. See GOA’s alert:

      • He’s testified before Congress to support anti-gunners like Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor and Attorney General Eric Holder.

      • Under his watch, the FOP backed Congressional measures to expand the unconstitutional and failing NICS system — which is the same system where 95% of the initial denials are false positives.

      • And on the state level, the FOP under his watch has supported Universal Background Checks and opposed Constitutional Carry.

President Trump has enough trouble reining in Deep State-infested agencies without adding another to his list. And normal Americans have enough trouble with ATF anti-constitutional abuses without adding another anti-constitutional enthusiast as its head. Enough, already.

PS: Thank you, Sen. Lindsey Graham, for standing up for the 2A and normal Americans on this one.
