The linked author is a prominent Hollywood conservative. Unfortunately, she’s right that Big Conservativism has “all but surrendered the culture war.”

Big Conservativism–the Beltway think tanks, the Cruise “Ahoy, Matey!” ship planners, the Mitt Romney contingent–has failed to conserve, well, pretty much anything. Look at National Review, a nominally conservative publication that publishes articles making the “conservative case” for gay marriage, Obamacare, red flag laws. The nominally conservative Heritage Foundation has joined them. Perhaps soon we can expect “the conservative case for leftist progressive socialism.”

The author is correct that there’s a market for conservative content. One way to do this is to follow the money. Big Conservativism relies on donors: there’s a surprising number of little old ladies who name the Heritage Foundation in their wills. The challenge (not saying this will be easy) will be to shift those funds from “Ahoy, Matey!” Beltway Bowtie Conservativism to something that might actually make a difference.

The Donkey Party religion is filled with zealots. “Convert or die” is their subtle mantra. Hopefully, there will be a backlash from the masses, as American’s tend to favor the underdogs. If enough oppression and demonization is piled upon conservatives, it might create enough imbalance to swing the needle of power from left to right.

Is there a market for conservative and patriotic movies? Very much so. Until that needle starts to swing right, we won’t see mass acceptance and will be viewed as a fringe market.
