      Yup. I can’t see too many in there that I’ll cry over were they to disappear. (The current crop of #MediaJackals that ran them into the ground would be unrecognizable to their worthier predecessors.) I picked one at more-or-less random, the Modesto Bee, and found this:

      The Second Amendment does not bar gun control. Let’s stop pretending that it does

      Weapons that serve no other purpose except to kill a large number of the public in a short amount of time should be banned again. These are exactly the kind of weapons used in so many of the recent tragedies.

      Likewise, large capacity magazines have been important in all of the recent mass shootings and should be banned. Universal background checks should be required for all gun purchases. The gun-show and private-sale loophole to background checks must be closed.

      ▪ Banning any type of assault weapon or its ammunition.

      ▪ Requiring a permit to possess a rifle or shotgun. Permits issued only after stringent background investigations. The overwhelming majority of citizens should have no trouble qualifying.

      ▪ Requiring special permits for pistols only when the applicant provides compelling evidence of a true need.

      Good riddance.
