If this goes through to signed law, local governments can make their own (completely unconstitutional) 2A laws. In other words, Virginia is saying bye-bye to all aspects of state preemption, because one or two typical Democrats in the state legislature not wanting to meet 2A head-on, up-close and all personal-like, may side with The Constitution. And since ‘redistributing wealth’ is a typical Democrat thing, Governor Northam and Co. will let the typical Democrats locally - all over the state - try to grab the brass ring.

On one side of a street, you’re clear. On the other side of the street - literally across the street - in the same city/town - posession of a single round of 9mm FMJ makes you a level 1 felon. And the typical Democrats will be able to (hopeand)change their (completely unconstitutional) local laws as they see fit to do so, every month, week, day, hour, if need be to…… Naaaaaaaaaaah. It can’t happen here.

As I offered on another posting…… I’m honestly surprised Dear Governor hasn’t begun to replace ‘sanctuary county’ sheriffs with people who will obey all his (completely unconstitutional) orders.

I think that’s right. If you click through to the linked bill text, one section says:

a locality may adopt an ordinance that prohibits the possession, carrying, or transportation of any firearms, ammunition, or components or combination thereof (i) in any building, or part thereof, owned or used by such locality, or by any authority or local governmental entity created or controlled by the locality, for governmental purposes; (ii) in any public park owned by the locality, or by any authority or local governmental entity created or controlled by the locality; (iii) in any recreation or community center facility operated by the locality, or by any authority or local governmental entity created or controlled by the locality; or (iv) in any public street, road, alley, or sidewalk or public right-of-way or any other place of whatever nature that is open to the public and is being used by or is adjacent to a permitted event or an event that would otherwise require a permit…

Lots of room for mischief there. Including banning even possession of firearms or ammo on a “public street” or “sidewalk.” Even inside a vehicle! I expect the anti-constitutionalists will find lots of room to innovate here, with permanent “events” that necessarily require the “use[]” many public streets, especially key commuter arteries.

Sure, you can keep your firearm at home–until we get a President Bloomberg to pack SCOTUS and gut the Second Amendment–but you just can’t leave the house with it. Enjoy your “constitutional rights,” suckas!
