I remember ‘back in the day’, that bastion of calm, thoughtful, clean comedy, Andrew “Dice” Clay, offered the following about Than Thranthithco: ‘You can b-tt-slam your buddy out in the open while you’re waitin’ for the bus on a street corner, but God forbid you light up a Marlboro afterward…. what the h-ll is wrong with them out there ?’
So the “NRA are domestic terrorists!” nonsense was just that, symbolic.
Yet symbols matter. Branding millions of law-abiding, patriotic Americans (who happen to be NRA members) as “domestic terrorists” will encourage violence from the far left.
This is the Democratic Party acting as the political arm of the left, with Antifa acting as the street militants of the left. If someone wearing an NRA hat walking down Market Street in San Francisco is assaulted by Antifa, does anyone think that the police will treat that particular criminal investigation as a high priority? Compare to what would happen if a bunch of Proud Boys or Patriot Prayer or 500 Mom Strong members showed up on BART one day… Time to deploy police snipers, right?
