Not an inkling of an iota of a nano-chance this approaches anywhere near getting out of committee in the House.

One of the commenters at the Fox News article has it right - there’s already a statute protecting law-abiding firearms owners while on any interstate. It’s when a driver exists the interstate that the ‘fun’ commences. The moment a driver is on non-interstate property, state and/or local laws are in force.

And that’s the sad truth of it.

This bill would only go to a hearing in the House Judiciary committee if it were gutted and the intent flipped by 180 degrees to make transporting firearms across state lines a federal felony or something.

But even if it cleared the House, it would not clear the Senate.

The House approved some decent Second Amendment-protective legislation, like concealed carry reciprocity, when it was majority-Republican in President Trump’s first two years. Those decent bills died in the Senate, of course.

It’s still worth paying attention, though. Even introducing bills like this reminds us who our friends are… and who our enemies are.
