I’m tempted to say: “If even the ACLU is against you…”

But that is not quite right. The ACLU continues to insist, even post-Heller, that the Second Amendment does not mean what it says and that it merely protects some kind of nebulous collective right.

The ACLU presumably would be OK with–or at least raise no constitutional objections to–banning all vehicles with gasoline engines if done in a non-discriminatory fashion that complies with due process requirements.

Similarly, the ACLU presumably would be OK with–or at least raise no constitutional objections to–banning all firearms if done in a non-discriminatory fashion that complies with due process requirements.

It is heartening to see the ACLU uphold its principles here. But let’s not forget that some of its principles are at odds with a free and reasonable society.
