On and after January 1, 2023, each public university student health center shall offer abortion by medication techniques onsite. This service may be performed by providers on staff at the student health center, through telehealth services, or by providers associated with a contracted external agency.
Among those who spoke was Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins, who noted the dangers of taking RU-486, which has, according to data from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, contributed to the deaths of 24 women over the last two decades.
“When the abortion drug cocktail fails as it does about 10 percent of the time, surgical abortion is the next step,” Hawkins said. “Are Californians interested in outfitting campus health centers into surgical abortion facilities with compensated personnel and extensive emergency equipment?”
She also asked if administrators in California colleges are “prepared to handle the repercussions of students experiencing possibly life-ending bleeding and infections, caused by the abortion pills the school is providing.”
These are all good questions. But asking those questions assumes the left, which is now in control of the People’s Republic, is interested in an honest debate informed by science, medicine, and rationality.
They are not. To the left, abortion is a sacrament. Instead of being “safe, legal, and rare” it is “subsidized, legal, and as frequent as possible.” Shout your abortion! The next step, once the taxpaying drones of the People’s Republic are accustomed to this, is a state ballot initiative levying new taxes to subsidize abortions on campus.
Sadly, the taxpaying drones might vote for it. They did give us Gov. Newsom.
