So a new Tennessee state law took effect on May 2, 2019 that effectively restored, in a very limited way, the self-defense rights of felons. They can now possess and shoot antique firearms.

Since then, I know of no crimes that have been committed with antique firearms. Maybe that is because felons were unsure whether their legal rights to possess and shoot antique firearms were fully restored.

Now that this advice letter has been well publicized, it will be interesting to see if any crimes are committed by felons armed with antique firearms in the state over the next year. My guess is few, if any.
