If the goal of this anti-constitutionalist Virginia Democrat calling himself Rep. Donald McEachin is to reduce political tensions, this is precisely the wrong approach. McEachin is pouring gasoline on a smoldering campfire.

Rep. Donald McEachin may be an anti-constitutionalist, but it would be a mistake to think he’s dumb. He graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law. He managed to scale the state’s greasy political ladder to reach the dubious heights of the U.S. Congress. His district is the area south of Richmond. It is mostly urban. A majority of voters in his district broke for Hillary Clinton in 2016 and for the Democrat governor in 2017.

The problem is not that Rep. Donald McEachin is dumb, but that he is crassly partisan. Govtrack reports that he “got bipartisan cosponsors on the fewest bills compared to (the rest of the) Virginia delegation.” He did find time to show up at partisan Democrat events to endorse partisan “100% clean energy” and backed partisan “environmental justice” legislation and engaged in partisan moves like calling for President Trump’s impeachment. In August, McEachin demanded more anti-constitutional gun laws that would limit law-abiding Virginians’ right to self defense. His tame #MediaJackals characterized this with propaganda saying “Donald McEachin hopes to restore grace, respect in politics.” Of course!

Rep. Donald McEachin is simply expressing the views of his fellow anti-constitutionalists, who now control the Democratic Party. They are ascendant. An earlier generation would have said that they are feeling their oats.

A reasonable hypothesis is that Rep. Donald McEachin and his like-minded anti-constitutionalists actually want to start hostilities. They know that their planned laws limiting the right to self-defense will not reduce crime. Reducing crime is not the point. Provocation is the point.

They are hoping that confiscatory new anti-constitutional California-style laws and anti-constitutional use of National Guard troops to enforce these laws will provoke Virginia patriots. This is the state version of the Swalwellian “it would be a short war… the government has nukes.” They want the patriots to fire the first shot (or at least can count on #MediaJackal propagandists to claim that patriots fired the first shot).

They are trying to start the next Civil War. They think they will win.
