  This is unexpected good news. I did not think it would happen.
  
  The Virginia Senate Judiciary committee vote to kill HB 961 (to put off consideration, meaning delay until 2021) was successful by a 10 to 5 margin. This was not a vote on the merits, but I’ll take it.
  
  VCDL is reporting that all Republicans on the Senate Judiciary committee voted in favor of killing HB 961. They were aided by four Democrats who voted in a pro-constitutional direction: Deeds, Edwards, Peterson, and Surrovell.
  
  Well done, Virginia patriots. But as VCDL reminds us:
  
  We are far from being out of the woods. Red Flag laws, Universal Background Checks, and destruction of the firearms preemption law are still very much alive this year.
