There is nobody better than Rod Dreher on this. Excerpt from the linked article:

So, let me get this straight: Chick-fil-A has managed to become the third-biggest fast-food chain in the US, despite earning so much progressive hatred for honoring what its leadership once claimed was fidelity to “a much higher calling.” But now, in 2019, as it sits near the summit of business success, Chick-fil-A suddenly finds that it can no longer afford to follow that “higher calling,” and is cutting the Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes off.

The late great S. Truett Cathy, a traditional Baptist and Sunday school teacher, founded Chick-fil-A. He stepped down in 2013 and passed away in 2014.

The company’s subsequent chairman, president, and CEO is his son Dan Cathy. It did not take long for Chick-fil-A to start to get woke. Within a few months after taking over, Dan Cathy was already talking about how he thought it was a “mistake” for Chick-fil-A to get involved in the culture wars.

What that meant is he thought it was a “mistake” for Chick-fil-A to be perceived as associated with traditional Christian beliefs. That was the real mistake: it was a preemptive surrender and emboldened the left. We see the results today.

The only surprise is that it took so long to happen.

PS: This story is not complete without hearing what the left’s propaganda arm, the #MediaJackals, is yapping about. Some background:

the Salvation Army provides benefits to the spouses of employees in same-sex marriages, now discriminates against no one either in its services or in employment, built a dormitory in Las Vegas for homeless LGBT youth, and has a page on its website that details all of the services it provides to LGBT people, showing an appreciation for their unique needs and written in a style and tone that could be right out of the brochure for an LGBT advocacy group….

This looks to me like the Salvation Army is demonstrating traditional Christian charity. The Salvation Army is actively going out of its way to help LGBTQ-identified people. In no way can this beloved organization be fairly described as “anti-LGBTQ.”

So what do the #MediaJackals at CNN claim in the headline that’s currently on their home page?

Chick-fil-A will no longer donate to anti-LGBTQ organizations

      Of course.

ALEXANDRIA, VA (November 18, 2019) – We’re saddened to learn that a corporate partner has felt it necessary to divert funding to other hunger, education and homelessness organizations — areas in which The Salvation Army, as the largest social services provider in the world, is already fully committed. We serve more than 23 million individuals a year, including those in the LGBTQ+ community. In fact, we believe we are the largest provider of poverty relief to the LGBTQ+ population. When misinformation is perpetuated without fact, our ability to serve those in need, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, religion or any other factor, is at risk. We urge the public to seek the truth before rushing to ill-informed judgment and greatly appreciate those partners and donors who ensure that anyone who needs our help feels safe and comfortable to come through our doors.
