Regime legitimacy was questionable before any of this happened. Now, in the aftermath…

The dissident right (that is, non-Beltway “Ahoy Matey” cruise ship right) has been talking about this for a while. What’s notable here is that Matt Taibbi, a Rolling Stone contributor, is no Trump supporter and certainly not on the dissident right. For instance Taibbi celebrated Andrew Breitbart’s untimely death with: “Good! Fuck him. I couldn’t be happier that he’s dead.”

Taibbi may be on the left, and may be foul-mouthed, but he is honest enough to acknowledge the attempted Deep State coup, and fair-minded enough to admit that the destabilizing effects of a coup are approximately the worst-case scenario.

The recognition of what’s really happening with the Deep State’s extra-legal attempted coup against a duly elected president is edging toward the mainstream.

Thanks for posting. Two interesting excerpts:

We are speeding toward a situation when someone in one of these camps refuses to obey a major decree, arrest order, or court decision, at which point Americans will get to experience the joys of their political futures being decided by phone calls to generals and police chiefs.

My discomfort in the last few years, first with Russiagate and now with Ukrainegate and impeachment, stems from the belief that the people pushing hardest for Trump’s early removal are more dangerous than Trump.

      And:

Donald “Deep State” Trump is a legitimately elected president whose ouster is being actively sought by the intelligence community.

Also: “We are speeding toward a situation when someone in one of these camps refuses to obey a major decree, arrest order, or court decision, at which point Americans will get to experience the joys of their political futures being decided by phone calls to generals and police chiefs.”

There are lots of ways this can accelerate. #1, an order is not obeyed (does anyone think the Deep State actually listens to the President?). #2, the president resists an unconstitutional court order that most Americans think is unconstitutional, maybe with backing from the military. #3 the president lawfully directs the military to stop an insurrection like Antifa in Portland, but meets resistance from local or state governments.

Under a Democrat president there’s: #4 a Democrat president orders AR-15 confiscation. Sanctuary counties resist. So eventually do sanctuary states.

Also there’s this take from Ace of Spades:

I like Matt Taibbi’s writing style, and he certainly sees at least some of the many issues, but he also falls into the elitist trap of lazy ignorance of the disconnect between America and the coastal elites. That of course manifests in most of the pompous asses as slobbering, drooling, NeverTrump blather.

This article is worth a read, because he correctly identifies the dangers of a deep state and the power inherent in an unelected bureaucracy that feels a sense of entitlement and superiority over the citizens of the country it is supposed to serve and be subordinate to!

Amazing that the media are so willing to accept the blatant politicking and obvious partisan spin of the heads of the deep state, yet send legions of ignorant “journalists” to the stacks and phones whenever President Trump or his defenders say pretty much anything.
