Andrew Pollack is the father of Parkland victim Meadow Pollack, who died in the attack. He has written a book, released last week, called Why Meadow Died: The People and Policies That Created The Parkland Shooter and Endanger America’s Students.

He says that morning he happened to be wearing a Donald Trump campaign T-shirt on a bike ride (the ride was interrupted when he learned about the attack on the school). A reporter took a picture of him when looking for his daughter. In the book, he writes: “That photo made the news, and in the next few days I got so much hatred on social media saying I deserved to have my daughter murdered because I support the president of the United States. Some people are really sick.” (Here’s one news article at the time about the horrific Twitter leftist ragemob response.)

Mr. Pollack blames leftist political correctness for the attack. Police made “forty-five visits” to the shooter’s home. Mental health authorities “refused to institutionalize him three different times,” including when he was suicidal and when threatening to kill people. Why? Public school officials “had launched the PROMISE program to dramatically decrease student arrests.” There is “pathological unaccountability within the Broward County school district” and bureaucrats are pushing a “social justice policy.”

This is a disturbing read. (And I’ve only read the first few dozen pages.) But it looks to be a worthwhile one.
