DCYF is seeking current DCYF employees in King, Snohomish, and Benton counties to volunteer to supervise and support children and youth in Emergency Quarantine Centers. While this is a voluntary effort, you will be compensated four ranges (approximately 20%) above you current base salary while performing these duties, and return to your normal position and salary once concluded.
We are looking for current DCYF Social Service Specialist 5’s to care for children who are either COVID-19 positive, or who may have been exposed to COVID-19. There are three locations:
Work scheduled shifts on a 24/7 basis; 12-hour shift with four days on three days off, then three days on, four days off.

The authority to involuntary isolate or quarantine an individual rests with local health officers. Each local health jurisdiction in Washington has plans and processes in place should involuntary isolation or quarantine be needed. This authority is rarely used as a last resort when someone is intentionally putting others at risk. We believe any facilities included in local health plans are most likely to be used by people who are willing to voluntarily isolate or quarantine but don’t have a safe place available to do so. Again, nearly everyone sick with COVID-19 or exposed to COVID-19 is willing to follow public health recommendations voluntarily. We greatly appreciate the willingness of people in Washington to protect others in their community.
Translation: Don’t blame us state health officials! Blame your local health officials who have the power to send children to the “Emergency Quarantine Centers.” Because the option is “rarely used,” you have nothing to worry about!
