When Andrew Sullivan is right, he’s very, very right.
This is one of those times. Now, if the New York Times wishes to metamorphosize fully into a partisan socialist race-baiting agitprop rag, it has the right to do so. But it cannot simultaneously be a partisan socialist race-baiting agitprop rag and a respected neutral arbiter of truth. The two are mutually incompatible.
Whether you like Ann Coulter or not, her column last month called “WHY THE NEW YORK TIMES IS UNREFORMABLE AND MUST DIE” is a good read. On the other hand, if the Times can keep getting bailouts from Mexican billionaires (which presumably have nothing to do with its editorial positions on immigration and President Trump), its death might take a while.
