The American Geophysical Union in Washington, D.C. and the Geological Society of America in Colorado have taken an unmistakable side in the culture wars. They have decided to join the anti-constitutional, intolerant left.

They are trying to deny traditional Christians the ability to participate in society. First it’s what’s happening now: censoring job ads from Brigham Young University. This is an experiment. If the intolerant left’s experiment succeeds, the next step will be to deny Brigham Young University faculty membership in professional associations. Then their papers will be rejected from professional journals. Then funding sources will be pressured. Then their graduate students will not be hired. Eventually even people known or suspected to be professionally associated with Brigham Young University faculty members will feel the heat.

This will not end with policies regulating homosexual acts. Next it will include lack of public endorsement for same-sex marriage, insufficient enthusiasm for “bake the cake” “wax my balls” lawfare, and skepticism of crotch-flashing, child-indoctrinating “drag queen story hours.”

The left’s goal is to force traditional Christians to choose between their faith and their jobs. This should be headline news. This is why conservatives give money to ostensibly conservative groups–those Conservative Inc. cruise-ship sailors–to prevent. But instead we get to hear what Jonah Goldberg has to say about “the stupidity” of the Republican Party’s defense of President Trump.

PS: The American Geophysical Union’s directors include:

Note what these directors have in common. They are academics. They may have tenure, but tenure does not produce funding. Funding comes from the government. That is why Richard Murray is at NSF. Working at NSF greases the path for future grants. That is also why another AGU board member, Jill Karsten, works at NSF. Not only is she at NSF, she is a “Program Director for Education and Diversity” at NSF. The term “politicheskiy rukovoditel” comes to mind.

Many of these directors know what the American Geophysical Union is doing to traditional Christians is wrong. They are cowardly, not stupid. They are too cowardly to risk being criticized by fellow academics as white supremacist Nazi separatist hater badthink deplorable Trump supporting bitter clingers. So they remain silent–and preserve their funding under the watchful eyes of the two NSFers (including the “Program Director for Education and Diversity”) on the AGU board.

      Shakespeare had it right:

Cowards die many times before their deaths / The valiant never taste of death but once.
